Diving on Zanzibar
The sea surrounding Zanzibar is full of life
Diving on Zanzibar is great all year round, under almost all weather conditions, and visibility of 15 to 35 metres is usual. Zanzibar has stunning coral gardens, habitat for approximately 350 fish species, is a pleasure for anyone that likes to be active in the water. The sea surrounding Zanzibar is full of life: lion fish, scorpion fish, angelfish, trumpet fish, moray, eels, nudibranchs etc. Big fish such as reef sharks, turtles and napoleon fish can be found at the walls outside the reef.
Dolphins are always around, seasonally whales are passing from South Africa and since turtles breed on the island they can be regularly seen. Around Stone Town you have many wrecks to explore. Dive Centres operate from many locations close to Villa Fleur de Lys and there are reefs to be reached from Paje, Jambiani and Kizimkazi.
Kizimkazi is the closest dive and snorkelling site and, in addition to possible swimming with dolphins, it has a variety of walls, lagoons, caves and coral gardens. We are happy to arrange your diving experience whether you are a beginner or an advanced diver.
